• Feature Added collection of whether a node is bare metal or a virtual machine

  • Added the virtualization (baremetal, vm, unknown) and hypervisor tags to kube_node_perf.
  • Sends - for hypervisor on bare metal nodes or when the hypervisor can't be identified.
  • Uses DMI vendor information first; if the vendor can't be identified, checks the hypervisor flag in /proc/cpuinfo to determine whether the node is a virtual machine.
  • Identifies major virtualization environments such as QEMU/KVM, VMware, and Hyper-V.
  Note

  Some cloud bare-metal instances such as EC2 .metal can't be distinguished from regular instances by DMI information alone, so they may be classified as vm.
