Starting AI Analysis from a screen

When you investigate a performance issue, you have to move between screens, compare metrics, and check them against the previous time range. The AI Analysis button on WhaTap screens reduces that work to a single click. It passes the conditions you just queried and the data drawn on the screen as they are, returns an analysis result, and lets you jump straight from the result to the detail screen of the row in question. It helps operators who need to narrow down a cause while looking at APM, Kubernetes, database, and browser screens.

For how to ask WhaTap AI directly in the chat window, see Getting started. For question examples by scenario, see Usage guide.

Starting AI Analysis

Screens that show query results as tables or charts, such as Statistics, Stack, and Hitmap, have an AI Analysis button in the option bar. Entry points placed inside a table row or next to a status indicator show only an icon; hover over them to see the button name in a tooltip.

  1. Specify the query conditions on the screen and query the data.

  2. Click the AI Analysis button in the option bar.

  3. The analysis starts, and the result appears in the drawer on the right side of the screen or in the WhaTap AI chat window.

    • If the button is disabled, hover over it to check the reason.
    MessageDescription
Click the query button to query data.Nothing has been queried yet. Specify the query conditions, run the query, and click again
Loading dataThe screen is still querying. The button becomes active once the query finishes

The button stays active even when the query returns 0 results. In that case, the analysis result tells you that there is no data in the selected period.

Note

AI Analysis entry points on each screen appear only in environments where WhaTap AI is available. For WhaTap AI configuration in on-premises environments, contact your engineer in charge.

In the body of an analysis result on a Statistics screen, values that point to a table row appear as links. Clicking a link opens the same detail screen as clicking Detail in the table. When you find a row you suspect is the cause while reading the analysis result, you do not have to navigate back to the screen yourself.

When different rows appear with the same value on the screen and cannot be told apart, the value is shown without a link. This prevents the detail screen of the wrong row from opening.

Note

AI responses may not be accurate. Always verify important decisions yourself.

Data used for analysis

WhaTap AI uses only the data that the screen actually queried. It does not run another query with conditions different from the screen, so the analysis result never disagrees with the values shown on the screen.

ItemDescription
Query conditionsUses the period, sorting, filters, and agent selection that the screen used for its query, as they are
Displayed rowsThe rows on the current page drawn on the screen
Time series of top rowsThe trend over time of the top rows by the sort criteria
Previous periodQueries the immediately preceding period of the same length once more under the same conditions for comparison. Queried only when an analysis is started

APM screens that provide AI Analysis

In APM projects, the following screens have AI Analysis entry points.

MenuDescription
Transaction TrackingOverview and logs in trace details, the trace list opened from the hitmap, and Multi Transaction analysis
StatisticsTransaction Statistics, Transaction Percentile, Domain, Caller, Login, IP Transaction, Referrer, Error, SQL, HTTP Call, Client IP, User Agent, and Client Browser analysis
StackActive Stack, Top Stack, and Unique Stack analysis
HitmapHitmap patterns and analysis of an area selected by dragging
Performance TrendMetric trend analysis on the Performance Trend screen
AlertAnalysis of an individual event row in the Event History list
Note

The same kind of entry point is provided on Kubernetes, database, and browser screens. For how to use each screen, see the documentation for each product.
